Green Gadgets is a social initiative geared towards promoting the digital transformation of India while also maintaining a keen interest in reducing e-waste generation. At Green Gadgets, we believe that digital literacy and eco-friendly practices go hand in hand, that is to say, environmental sustainability is incomplete if it also does not include socioeconomic empowerment for marginalized groups, who face the greatest brunt of climate challenges. With this in mind, we have adopted a multipronged approach to reduce e-waste in urban India while simultaneously furthering digital literacy among students from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

E-waste reduction and refurbishment lies at the heart of our initiative, for which we are organizing an e-waste collection drive in neighborhoods in Delhi. The electronic items collected through this drive will then be refurbished and used to set up a computer laboratory at Sukhad Foundation, a well-known non-profit, to bolster their initiatives in holistic development of children from underserved communities. To encourage further donations of old and used devices to Sukhad, we are also curating a compelling series of flyers that raises awareness about the issue of e-waste generation and disposal in India. 

Lastly, Green Gadgets hopes to put together a comprehensive and accessible digital skills handbook that explores fundamental digital skills such as Internet searches, email communication, and how to navigate Microsoft Office applications. To engage and motivate the children, we also plan to facilitate interactive workshop sessions on digital literacy, so they can begin building the foundation necessary for academic and professional success. Our long-term goal centers on bolstering the conversation surrounding sustainability, particularly digital waste, and expanding the infrastructure needed for a true countrywide digital transformation, where no one is left behind.
